Drogba celebrates his goal against Barca Wednesday night |
Those who think that Didier Drogba’s days at Stanford Bridge are numbered may be in for a
surprise. This is due to the statement credited to none other than the Blues’
manager and club legend, Roberto Di Matteo who believes that the Ivorian
forward is worthy of a new contract at Chelsea.
Although talks are still going on between Drogba, whose
current deal is winding down and officials of the club, speculators have
continually linked him with a summer move
to China.
According to Di Matteo, “Didier’s fit and he is certainly
capable of playing in the premier league for Chelsea, or someone else next
year.”
Close watchers believe that Drogba is angling for a two –
year extension of his contract, “but the final decision is for the club to
take”, declared Di Matteo.
