Nigerian Premier League Round Up: In-Form Lobi Guns for Double

Lobi Stars of makurdi continued their impressive run of form when thy beat Niger Tornadoes 2-0 in Katsina Ala on Sunday.

Goals from former Enyimba goalkeeper John Lawrence and former Ocean Boys captain Blesssing Okardi ensured that the John Zaki tutored boys are only one point behind Rangers and Kano Pillars  who are both tied on 58 points.

Lobi had won their rescheduled game with Sunshine Stars of Akure 1-0 last Thursday. Tony Okpotu grabbed his fourth goal in four days after his hat trick helped dismantle sharks 3-1 in the Federation Cup Quarter Final last Monday.

Lobi who won the League title in 1999 and the FA Cup in 2003 has expressed confidence of winning the double this term,as voiced by coach John Zaki who spoke to reporters after their game on Thursday.

“On our current position and form, we can win the title, we are in contention now and we will take the games as they come,” said Zaki, whose club are also in the semi-finals of the Federation Cup.
